Icons Of Television Stations
( In The New York Metropolitan Area )
These are Windows desktop icons (.ico) which can be used
as shortcut icons or as replacement folder icons.
To download an icon, right-click it
and then click "Save target as."
Some of the icons have more than one opaque version -- all have at least one translucent version except for the Discovery Channel. I thought it would be fun to mimic the "ghosted" look that's often used for an on-screen logo. The translucent ones shown on this Web page all look grayish -- naturally, because the images were "lifted" from screen shots of them lying on the standard gray background I use for folders on my computer (same as the background color of this Web page). When placed on a desktop screen with a sky background image, the ghosted NY1 icon, for example,
goes from this
to this:
Any "ghosted" icon has the suffix "-T" in the file name ( transparent ).
The unghosted icons have the suffix "-C." in the file name ( color )

formatting of Windows icons, and the formatting of these particular icons.
Broadcast Channels
02: WCBS

05: WNYW (Fox)
The translucent versions, (T1 & T2), look virtually identical against my gray background,
however, when placed on a sky background you can see the difference:

The second icon and the red one don't look good on my gray background.
Over a sky background they look like this:
17: History
18: Discovery
19: VH1
20: MTV
22: Cartoon Network
I invented the second icon because that was the only way to make the letters
bigger -- to utilize the three quarters of unused space left by the first icon.
23: Court TV
24: Entertainment Channel
27: MSG (Madison Square Garden)
28: ESPN
29: ESPN 2

-- By Request --
TiVo icon -- I decided to make two styles for it.
(transparent background and orange bacground)
Nine size formats: 128 pixels, 96, 80, 72, 64, 48, 32, 24, 16.
TiVo
-- By Request --
Two icons in one request -- SpeedTV and HGTV
Nine size formats: 128 pixels, 96, 80, 72, 64, 48, 32, 24, 16.
Both of these logos became unacceptably blurred at the smaller sizes so the design is different at those sizes.
SPEED becomes only the letter "S" at 32 pixels or lower.
See how all nine sizes look.
HGTV becomes only the letters "HG" at 24 pixels or lower.
See how all nine sizes look.
